Raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, Brian Matyas is a Senior Entertainment Concept Designer operating in the gaming and movie industries.
Raised with a passion for drawing, as a teenager he had the chance to visit Lucasfilm‘s Skywalker Ranch, where he realized he could actually make a living by designing worlds and characters born from his own imagination.
During his last year in high school he attended a pre-college programme at the Ringling College of Art & Design, where he took part to an introductory course in computer animation: there, though, he realized animation would not be his way.
So he decided to enroll in the Columbus College of Art & Design, in Ohio, where he studied illustration and where his interest in the world of concept art began, understanding this would be his actual and natural evolution as an artist.
Nearing the completion of his degree, he started sending his portfolio to several companies in the gaming, videogaming and movie industry and, among the offers he got back, he decided to accept an entry level position at Disney‘s ImageMovers Digital.
From that moment on his career skyrocketed: after working at companies such as 2K, Telltale Games, Wizards of the Coast, Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros, today he is Senior Concept Designer at LucasFilm, where actually everything started.
