Seb McKinnon is a Canadian freelance artist, whose talents are unbelievably versatile and multifaceted: he works at the same time as Director, Illustrator, Storyboard/Concept Artist and Music Composer.
Born and raised in Montreal from a very creative family (one of his four younger brothers, Ben, was a cinematographer, who died at age 24), he graduated in Illustration and Design at Dawson College.
His first professional experience, which lasted a few months, was in the role of Concept Artist at Ubisoft, where he created environment concepts for the Rainbow Six franchise.
The work that made him famous, though, was his long-lasting collaboration as freelance Illustrator at Wizards of the Coast, where he created artwork for Magic: The Gathering.
In the last eight years, Seb has illustrated more than a hundred cards for the popular game, earning himself the reputation of a true legends among the enthusiasts of the franchise, for his wistful and dreamlike compositions.
Alongside illustration, McKinnon is a creator in both music and film.
Together with his brothers, Liam and the late Ben, he has founded the company Five Knights Production, where he works as Director, Producer, Art Director, Concept Artist and Storyboard Artist.
His first short movie, KIN, released in 2013, was awarded for the Best Cinematography at both the Montreal Fantasia Film Festival and the Cyprus International Film Festival.
Later he went on creating two more short films with the same setting, Salvage and Requiem, both in 2015, and he is currently financing, with several Kickstarter campaigns, his debut feature, The Stolen Child.
He also makes music under the name CLANN, and has published two records: Seelie and KIN Fables (the soundtrack for his own short film).
