The new 3D computer graphic masterclasses kick off at Skyup Academy

Intensive courses for aspiring digital artists are starting in September at the San Gregorio alle Alpi campus, in northern Italy

The new 3D Computer graphics masterclasses are about to start at Skyup Academy. A learning experience not to be missed, for every enthusiast who wants to become a real artist in CGI special effects and digital animation.

A 613-hours intensive course to learn three-dimensional digital graphics from the best professionals in the field, directed by digital artist Mauro Baldissera, who will bring to the masterclasses his over 20 years experience in advertising, cinema, videogames and music videos.

The course starts from scratch, so attendants won’t need any special pre-existing competence, apart from their imagination and desire to learn.

The teachers at Skyup Academy will lead every student to learn the basics of 3d graphics, which will enable them to create amazing images and animations.

The study programme include concept design, 3D modeling and the use of Maya software.

Students will also learn how to model clay maquettes, how to create textures and lightings based on colour and photography theories, how to use a tablet for digital sculpting, how to bring characters into life with rigging and animating, how to integrate computer graphics with real-life films thanks to special effects.

Throughout the term, the school will host be speeches by international artists, such as Daniele Danko Angelozzi, Otto Brando, Maud Muratore and Brian Chinnery (Scanline, Technicolor Academy). During the weekends the academy will also organize thematical workshops, with the help of international professionals.

The course will be completed by a group thesis which will consist in designing and creating a short movie completely with computer graphics, which will have the chance to enter the prestigious contest Gold Movie Awards and, if selected, to take part in the annual final event in London.

At the end of the Masterclass, Skyup Academy will offer jobs and paid internships at their partner firms to the most deserving students. Here is an example of a final thesis (with its making of) by one of the classes who attended the previous edition of the course.

A technological structure surrounded by nature

Courses will take place in the beautiful setting of Dolomites, in San Gregorio alle Alpi near Belluno, in northern Italy, where the Skyup Academy campus is based.

A structure located in 17 acres of parks, meadows and forests, but only a few minutes away from the city, which contains comfortable and professional classrooms, equipped with the latest technologies (state-of-the-art workstations and Wacom tablets).

Classrooms are open 24/7, so all masterclass attendants and campus residents have the chance to practice for as long as they wish. And since one does not live by study alone, students can also enjoy their leisure time in contact with nature and take part in outdoor instructing activities.

The next edition of the 3D computer graphic masterclasses is scheduled from the 9th September 2018 to the 23rd January 2019, from Monday to Thursday, from 9 am to 6 pm (with an additional English course every Friday morning, from 9 to 12).

Since there are already many requests and only a few places still available, you can already sign up for the following masterclass, due to start on the 3rd February 2020. To sign up you can visit the Skyup Academy official site, where you’ll find every information, complete study programmes, prices and discounts.

The best masterclass to enter the world of cinema

Entry-level cinema and filmmaking courses will also start at Skyup Academy in October.

A start-up masterclass lasting one month will enable students to learn the basics to become an experienced filmmaker, after several hours of practice, starting from the film strip to get to the most recent digital techniques.

A second masterclass will follow-up on the covered topics, so that the students will further specialize and practice on a real movie set, thanks to several simulations and to the production of a short movie.

This course is designed to bridge the gap between students and the international world of professional cinema.

Teachers are all professionals in their field, such as Marco Recalchi, who runs a studio in London, where the most deserving students could be offered internships at the end of the masterclass. The next edition is scheduled from the 14th October to the 8th November 2019, from Monday to Thursday, from 9 am to 6 pm. More information on the dedicated webpage on the Skyup Academy website.
